Ganesha, also spelled Ganesh, also called Ganapati, elephant-headed Hindu god. Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha’s elephant head makes him particularly easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles, patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom.

Mandala is a geometric pattern of squares & concentric circles as a projection of the cosmos. The basic form of mandalas is square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Mandala is regarded as a place separated and protected from the ever changing and impure outer world of samsara.
